been a most chaotic weekend.. started with short circuit in my room.. thanks to the iron i had no comp, no music, no boiled water, no hair dryer and no charging of phones for a day.
well, the trip out to kent was pretty alright i guess except for the mad rush in the morning. never ran that much in my life to board a coach. and it didn't happen once. it happened twice. super tiring..especially with all that muscleache from yesterday's ulu classes. hmm.. but the trip there was worthwhile. finally got to see the coast at dover..english channel. the next place i want to visit will be brighton. hee.
but a lesson learnt.. or rather many lessons learnt. set an earlier leaving time or else everyone will be late. and literally everyone was late. imagine being able to set off only at 850 when we were supposed to meet at 830. obviously we were gonna be running for our lives. we should give each other morning calls as alarms always never work on such occasions. we should travel in smaller groups or else everyone will just end up walking seperate ways. it's impossible for all 10 ppl to compromise..and i shldn't come back so late frm canterbury anymore. hahas.
okies.. just uploaded today's pictures.. dover is sucha pretty place.. plus the fine weather.. it was indeed the best day out to date. hmm.. picnic tmr? hyde park? st jame's park? err..
ooh.. and it's halloween to day.. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

You light up another cigarette
and I pour the wine
It's four o'clock in the morning
and it's starting to get light now
I'm right where I want to be
losing track of time
but I wish that it was still last night
You look like you're in another world
but I can read your mind
how can you be so far away
lying by my side
when I go away I'll miss you
and I will be thinking of you
every night and day just ...
Promise me you'll wait for me
'cos I'll be saving all my love for you
and I will be home soon
Promise me you'll wait for me
I need to know you feel the same way too
and I'll be home, I'll be home soon

just uploaded pictures taken yesterday.. well, despite the rain it was quite a good day out. covered quite afew places in like 6 hours? went to portobello, westminster and big ben in the morning..then to harrods and arsenal. portobello was kinda disappointing. maybe it's coz of the rain, most of the stalls were 'half alive' so yeah.. but we had a hearty brunch so i guess it compensated for our journey there. hee. i guess i would go back to portobello again..when the weather's better and when u're not with a bunch of guys who don't know how to appreciate bric-a-brac.
though i think the guys are not much better than girls.. at some times i think they're even more 'gu niang' then us. sigh..to a certain extent i felt like i was out with 5 other girls who can never make decisions. well, at least girls only can't make decisions when shopping.. they cldn't even decide whether to buy a day pass or a weekend pass? hmm..which tube station should we go to? and taking photos in harrod's lift, on the escalator was the best. hahas..oh well.. guys are sometimes more immature then they look. anyways.. really enjoyed myself yesterday, however, only managed a glimpse of arsenal fc..the person didn't let us in coz they were bt to close. and he made us walked a mile to the souvenir shop..sigh. but i bought my pretty pin to add to my collection. i shall start collecting all fc's pins. hahas. expensive investment..
i'm praying hard it doesn't rain ltr.. coz i really wanna go out.. since i bought a weekend pass rite? might as well make full use of it. hahas. where shall we go? shakespear globe? tate modern? or oxford street? *beams*

it's the weekend. hahas. it's 313am.. i shld be asleep rite? wonder why i'm still awake..well, just got back from canterbury..again. finished ironing..and i'm still feeling awake. though i think i better get some sleep soon else i won't be able to wake early tmr morning.
well, thanks wenny for the new layout. but did u save my old one anywhere? what if i decide to revert back to my old template? hmmz.. ooh.. and i don't like the tag's blue..cld u try a nicer colour?say..some lighter colour? the blue's too bright and shocking. hahas. thanks girl..

this post is specially dedicated to our qm:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNDA!! *big hugs*
it's been great having you around. will always remember the chit-chat sessions and letters. stay bubbly yes. tenh-sisters forever! love ya lots! (:
can't believe how time flies. been in london for a month..but somehow it doesn't feel like a month. seems like i just arrived or sth. there's still so much to explore..hahas. quite glad everything's fine so far, able to settle in quite well, and i think i'm starting to like this place more. oh wells, pavoni's tutorial is sucha headache. thanks to stefan else i'll prolly still be stuck at god knows what question. oops.. there's a fire somewhere..4 fire engines just sped past judd street. hee. for once sirens are going off for a purpose.
well, went down to tot court today..as usual, wanted to get biscuits from simply food. but...mini fruitty tarts-sold out, milk choc digestives-sold out, jam sandwich-sold out, basically everything i wanted was not available. sigh. bought flapjack mini bites in the end. well, it's not too bad, it can't be since it's frm marks and spencer. haha i'm biased. but it's super ex la.. no choice or else my trip down would be wasted. when is their biscuit stock coming in? and how come they don't sell crunch sandwich when it's sold in singapore? strange. sigh.. the food at marks and spencer runs out so fast you have to go before 5pm or else u'll be left with the day's remainders.
hmmz.. did my isic. spent 7quids and the counter person spelt university wrongly. university became unversity. urgh. and he didn't want to change it for me, insisting that it doesn't matter coz no one looks at i anywayt. haiz. i don't even know when i'll use it and if it's even useful unless i were to travel or sth then i'll get discounts i guess.
it's finally friday.. can't wait til the weekend and it'll be play time! can't wait til reading week. hahas. i wanna go to spain! spain anyone? spain, prague, nice, switzerland, scotland, so many places that i wanna go..
where are you when i needed you most? *

can't believe the amount i spent today.. i think i'm so dead..well, shopping list for the day: new shoes, light blue track pants, clothes rack, table lamp...starbucks coffee, apple cinammon muffin, and primavera pizza for dinner! spent almost 50quids today. sigh. ooh.. had my fav sandwich again. it's getting cheaper by the day. think the seller recognise me now.. he charged me 1.80 today.. so the price of spinach, avocado and bacon sandwich has dropped frm 2.50 to 2.30 to 2.00 to 1.80 today! haha.. the cheaponess in me is showing up again. ooh.. and he gave me more than usual. i shld go back more often then i'll get a greater discount. well, but this also shows their inconsistency in prices. apparently they just say any amount they want to charge..sigh. but the person was very nice today. hee. he toasted the bread for no extra charge.
well, feeling much healthier after this morning's run. ran to burnswick square..then ran 10 rounds around the park. thot i prolly covered 3km if one round around the park was 300m..but according to sim.. one round is only 260-270m.. which means i only ran max 3.2 inclusive of the jog there and back. which is so sad. haiz. and silly kp jogged to regent's park instead. if only i decided to jog to regent's park then we could have jogged together.
looks like i better start saving from tmr onwards..blehs. save up for the weekend. hee. looking forward to netball tmr..can't believe it la.. i nv even want to touch netball in singapore and i'm playing here. gosh. but i think it'll be fun. hopefully it will be. hahas.
ooh.. shall go have my lao po bing and pia resources essay ltr..thanks kp for the po luo bao and lao po bing!

well, more people than i expected are reading this. if u're reading this mimi.. hello! hahas. oh wells, just completed b12 tutorial. shall take a break now. missed investment soc today.. replaced it with a nice dinner instead..did the bad thing of dining at canterbury again. proper food is so much better than sandwiches. hahas. i made the right choice of skipping invest soc for chix pie and broccoli. hopefully this would be the only time this week that i'll be dining there since dinner plans have already been made from tmr til thurs.
went back to my fav wot the dickens for spinach, avocado and bacon toasties today and the guy gave me a discount coz he saw me carrying my books and asked me if i was a student. saved me 30p in the end.. not bad huh. that's like one dollar sin. hahas. thanks to my stack of books manx. blehz.
hmmz...sch was alright. as usual, it's our piaing monday.. 4 hours of lect and wag. the most tiring day of all. i'm glad it's over. well, international problems as usual was the most stressful session with alan gilbert not substantiating his point again. sigh.. which means more readings..but he was really funny too. "children as expensive to support...they are the ones who persuade parents to buy a bigger house, they're the ones who persuade their parents to buy bigger cars...the teenagers these days spent their parents' money on branded clothes that can't even spell simple words by putting the 'u' and 'c' the other way round..." how rubbish could he get? the whole lt just roared with laughter. he's quite a farnie man actually.
gotta get back to my readings soon.. and the half done essay.. which question should i choose? overpopulation? resources? arghh...

hmmz.. munching on cookies as i'm typing this.. argh. this is bad. well, just came back from dinner at canterbury. sorry guys for intruding again. but dinner was really good. hahas. alright at least i've been having proper food the last 2 days.. very proper... had indian food at motijheel yesterday. the food there is really good and relatively cheap too. love the tandoori chix masala. hahas. even ate prata! my gosh.. miss prata so much. think i'll go back for more soon. actually, it's not that fantastic and it's super ex.. 1.50quids.. but it's the only place to get prata..so i'll visit it often. argh.. i miss causurina prata and jalan kayu curry!
went to chiltern with ulu mountaineering club for day trip today.. it's great to be out in the country, rolling meadows, grazing sheep, away from all the dust and grime.. trekked up to ivinghoe beacon..it's so scenic, the view is simply breathtaking. haven't trekked for so long, really missed those trekking days. suddenly got reminded of ayam and stong as i was walking up and realised how much i miss our expedition days. think i went on and on bt trgs it must have bored kp.. hahas. went to the pub in tring after that. pub food is really quite good. ate a kids meal for 3.95quids. chips, sausages and beans. yums. looks like today's work out has just gone down the drain. ha. i still can't believe that pubs serve kid's meal. and imagine what was the most prominent sign in front of the pub? it was not the name of the place but the sign which said: "CHILDREN WELCOME!" i guess this explains the brits' pub culture.. when kids are exposed to such environments from such a young age. imagine babies' meals? hahas.
took a trip out to stratford and warwick yesterday. it's two really pretty towns too. did some shopping in stratford and i bought a new jacket..again. haha..but i love it so much. it has my fav hood. bwah. a weekend filled with travelling.. it's quite tiring actually. i guess from next week onwards i'll keep saturday for travel and sunday for rest. yeah. and so i won't have wet shoes for monday!
to cyan: hey soulmate! it's always great chatting with you. i'm glad to always have you by my side, listening to my heart! thanks for listening my dear...i know i can always count on you for a heart-to-heart talk.. love and miss ya lots! *hugs*

acid rain's killing my hair.. argh.. to think that hard water was bad... i think the rain here is worse. it's been raining everyday. and this is gonna last til 22nd. i haven't even had the chance to dry my umbrella. hate the gloomy weather. well, maybe this is just london. drizzles, gloomy, sunny for half an hour, gloomy, drizzle for 15 mins, sunny for half hour, rain for 1 hour, gloomy, then sunny, and drizzle again all taking place within a day.sigh..
went down chinatown and had dinner at wong hei's today. had hor fun and sweet and sour pork. it's not really that good actually, but compared to sandwiches, it's so much better. can't wait til december.. when we can go pig out in hong kong. hahas. ahhh.. i feel like a fat pig already, been eating and eating and not exercising. shared a whole entire apple cinnamon cheesecake with kaiping and shujun this afternoon.. how sinful. sigh. i better start working out again. sobs. haiz.. i'm just such a sucker for marks and spencer... at first it was their biscuits, then it was their choc, and oven meals... now their cheesecake as well. this is bad.. well, hopefully tmr's walks and sunday's hikes would be sufficient exercise. hahas.
ooh..and i realised that biscuits here don't turn soft even if there're left exposed to the air. left a whole box of cookies opened on my table and they still remained as crunchy. yums. and of course chocolate here doesn't melt. so milk choc digestives are the best!!

can't believe the last time i blogged was like one week ago? starting to feel that time flies in london. but since it's my dear sea spec's birthday today.. i shall wish our bb a happie happie birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !! *big hugs*
well, whoever said that studying in uk was slack? it's not at all. just completed econs tutorial and there's 3 more essay plans to be done. sigh. yes.. the books are starting to pile higher than the food in my room! which is super sad..can't wait for the weekend.. the only time we can slack. haha.. looking forward to my warwick and stratford trip. cheers! we are finally making our way out of london and away from pollution. weekdays shall be devoted to work and weekends will be play. *hahas*
hmm.. the last week was a busy but fruitful one i guess. the weekends were no more than shopping at our favourite camden market. the things there are actually not cheap and in fact more expensive than oxford street. disappointing manx. thought i could pick up some cheap stuffs.. but in the end only bought hangers.. lame.. 7 for one pound which is not that cheap either. but it was nice walking around anyway. cooked our own pasta and made salad that night. thanks to andrea and kaiping's help. and baked brownies too. my first attempt at baking brownies. turned out quite well under kp's guidance. but how sinful..gosh.
went shopping at topshop on monday.. 20% discount for students. bought my pretty white coat! love it alot.. haha..though i'm still finding an opportunity to wear it. hee. bought a purse too.. and the stupid cashier forgot to remove the electronic tag. had to make a trip back in the end to get it removed. was super pissed. i could have just took the purse without paying lor.. so much for being honest rite? actually i shld have demanded for a discount. hmmz..
fresher's ball on tues was quite cool..ministry of sound is really damn hip..they actually have different sections playing different kinds of music.. quite unusual huh.. catering to all tastes manz. really enjoyed myself. sorry guys for being such a pest before hand.
to sx: thanks anyway for being so obliging! actually i never expected you to go anyway.
but felt so cheated that we paid 20 pounds for tix when we could have entered for 8quids. still can't figure out why we were so silly to fund the union when we don't even use their facilities. haiz. well, it was dancing with the rest! especially weilin, shiying and tientien.. we'll take the podium again next time okies!? it was fun dancing with the rest of the guys too.. it was really quite a blast.
this is indeed a very long entry. whoever's reading this should be rewarded. hahas. i better get back to blanchard soon. bleahs.

realised i haven't been updating regularly. shall do a quick update now. well, steph and janice came down from warwick over the weekend so went explore london with them. really got to thank them else i wouldn't have been to that many places. went to buckingham palace, tower bridge, st katherine's docks, picadilly circus, chinatown, harrods blah blah blah. the best thing was we went on sat night and went back to all the same places the next day. so it was almost like a double dosage of each place. but it was really enjoyable contrasting day and night of london sights.
ooh, and climbed up the monument too. it's 311 steps up to the top and we even received a cert for completing it. not bad huh. then breakfast at st katherine's docks was great too. finally i didn't have to eat bread or cereals for breakfast anymore. haha. and the view there is really good. so peaceful. just wonderful to sit and chat over a cuppa.
headed down to covent gardens too. ate my fav waffles again. more sinful this time round though. added toffee fudge. hahas. but it's really good. each time i think of those waffles my mouth waters. but one setback was the rainy weather.. haiz. couldn't walk ard hyde park and st james park much. maybe it's us and parks.. each time we wanna go to the parks it rains. think i shall go back to those places again!
well, lectures have started. mainly intro lects so it isn't that bad yet. though we can feel the stress building up le. can't slack anymore. geog tutorial has started and we've been allocated our first essay title due next mon. argh! "why study geography?" what a silly essay title. so crappy.. and so s paper. i shld have brought my textbooks and notes over. sigh. regret not bringing all my notes and books over. now have to wait til my mum comes and in the meantime shall visit the library more often.
well, today's been a busy busy day. well, actually the whole week's been kinda busy with all the clubs and socs having intro sessions. went for rowing, mountaineering and jap soc yesterday. then went for the first rock climbing session today. travelled all the way to mile end climbing club for indoor climbs. it was not bad, pretty fun though i nearly killed somebody. sorry xinwei! hahas. we'll still be climbing partners yes.
think i shall make mountaineering my main cca. with singsoc as default cca and maybe take up badminton or sth. need an indoor sport to keep me working in winter. else i'll come back like a fat pig w/o exercising. but it's like the whole world's joining bad.. how? mayb i'll join investment soc. hahas. learn how to invest. hmm... but really looking forward to our trip out to north yorkshire. that's one main reason why i join mountaineering too. we get to travel out every month. cool huh? go to diff places to trek and climb. guess i'll do the trek and skip the climb. haha. my fingers are already aching after today. ouch!
finally settled my phone line today.. after visiting a million shops.. yup. finally went to the oh-so-famous camden handphone shop which doesn't require a bank statement.. so finally got our phones done. walked ard camden a little. it is indeed a pretty little town. didn't get to see all that i wanted to see though. think i'll go back there again this weekend. wanna go portobello too. haiz. so many places i wanna go. shld i go brighton or shld i continue exploring london? hmm.. oh wells, it shall be readings for now..and a thousand word essay waiting for me..the boring part of school.
ooh..just realised it's karen's birthday today!
happy birthday karen!!

gosh..super tired from tonnes of ironing..been ironing for the last hour. lesson learnt..don't go out so much, don't buy new clothes..so less washing and less ironing. haha. oh wells, went shopping with wl and tt just now..set out to window shop but in the end we all bought stuffs. bought a la gear t-shirt for 3pounds while wl and tt bought trackpants. yups. and we all bought a short history of nearly everything each. think we're mad. but it's good so i guess it's alright. and we still haven't got our top for mos! argh..saw this pretty orange knitted wear at selfridges..30pounds. sigh. shld i get it? oh wells, we'll be going back there again tmr to shop for freshers' ball so i shall decide if i shld spend my 30pounds then. hahas.
ooh..went into this super erotic shop this afternoon while shopping. it's like some sex shop made glam.. hahas. the window display made it seem like it sold household products or bed-linen. but actually..what's behind those doors was a total contrast. but it was cool. hanged ard the shop for awhile. u'd be damn amazed by the things they sell..it's really surprising how such supposedly sleezy shops can be made so glamorous here that they even have security guards guarding the store. preventing people under18 from entering. geez. the things people here do sometimes. discovered that ucl actually has a gay club, a lesbian club and even a metrosexual club. can't imagine these societies being part of the school clubs. it's quite extraordinary ain't it.
hmm.. i'm so sad we can't go for gliding anymore.. felt so cheated by the stupid person. tell us 10pounds per hour..which is still reasonable.. but he didn't mention we had to spend 10pounds travelling there and another 10 pounds to rent the place and lunch not provided and extra charges for this and that. total charges accumulating to sth like 40pounds for a gliding weekend is way beyond budget. i'd rather spend my money on my pretty sweater and save the remaining for lunch. i need clothes! and we need to hunt for cheap clothes!
i'm still quite pissed with the way the banks here work though. super super slow. 5days to process a draft, 3weeks to get ur bank card and prolly another month to receive ur pin. darns. and i can't get my mobile coz i don't have a bank statement. this is seriously irritating. i shall go pester them again on monday. haha. force them to work harder.
*It is terrible! It is crazy! I am dazed and my head is spinning! London is the grandest and most complicated monstrosity on the face on the earth...and at every glimpse down the side streets and far into the distance one finds uproar, and that even so one has gone through only perhaps a quarter of populated London , you would understand that i am half out of my senses...~Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy
how true..sirens go off every night just like how 3 has gone off in the last half hour as i'm typing this. think police life here must be so happening that they're constantly kept on the balls of their feet. so unlike those cycling policemen around the neighbourhood. sorry bb! hahas. but police life here must be really exciting. simply put on ur siren and start zooming ard town. but it must be most frustrating for those light-sleepers. hahas. didn't realise i've typed such a long entry. my shoulders are stiff..

it's been a busy busy week, getting my comp up and running, registering for courses, planning timetable, meeting tutors blah blah... well, at least my comp's done. cheers. never thought i could manage it myself being such a comp illiterate. hahas. but i managed to get myself connected. though i still have a problem with the webcam. why?!? i heard halls don't allow people to use webcams. i hope this is so untrue. i don't wanna bring this dumb thing all the way here and not able to use it. sheesh.
signed up for my courses.. wanted to do a language but am not allowed to coz my units are full from geo and econs courses. darns.was hoping to take up french or spanish. hee. or maybe even brush up my rusty german. but looks like i can only take night classes next term. but night classes are so expensive. sigh. anyhows.. i guess i'll have to wait til next term to decide what language i wanna do. timetable's alright so far. 12hours week. haven't included geo tuts. not too bad i guess.. after inclusion of geo tuts, most prob gonna be a 14hours week. still acceptable i hope. just praying hard that my geo tut doesn't set any tutorials on fri coz that's gonna be our travelling day and weekend..hahas *shhh*
well, went for freshers' fayre yesterday.. signed up for a million and one things. mountaineering, rowing, gliding, salsa, horse riding.. looking forward to our gliding session this weekend. hopefully it takes off. haha. it's getting so exciting. it's great to note that there's a group of crazy us who's all excited bt gliding. but all the activities are super ex. like what's not ex here rite? haiz. i guess we'll just try out everything once for the experience. cool.. can't wait for our trip out to the countryside. i wanna go to the countryside! can't believe we're in london for only a week and can't wait to leave for the greens. i still can't decide if i should join mountaineering or rowing. hmmz..both sounds appealing enough. hahas. imagine climbing in france or rowing in god knows where.. but i think it'll be a really good experience.
watched chicago last night..managed to get super discounted tix. but sadly.. given super discounted seats as well, had to lean over most of the time to see the performers clearly. what to do when u're sitting at the top most circle. haha. the performance was pretty impressive. i'm not much of a musical person, but i thoroughly enjoyed myself after such a tiring day.
it's gonna be another busy day in school again. career talks ltr..think it's pretty dumb to talk bt careers when we haven't even started our course. blehz. kinda tired of talks alr..well, hopefully union fair wld be better.
been raining the last 2 days here..it's dampening our spirits a little..caused us to cancel our camden trip which is so disappointing. praying hard it doesn't rain today. argh.. i hate gloomy weather.. and my toilet light's blown. i better get it fixed soon. darns. but i don't really wanna talk to ms souza. hate tt stupid assistant site manager manz. darns.
it's been a really long entry..shall update again next time.. off to sch now.
